I was born in Mumbai to a family that deeply valued music, art, nature and food. My upbringing was infused with creativity and intellectual curiosity. My father was a renowned economist and editor of The Economic Times. He was also recognised as a futurologist and was one of two Indians featured in Time magazine’s 1977 list of the 350 leaders shaping the world. It was a remarkable achievement, especially considering India’s global standing at the time. My father held a doctorate in economics and was among the few of his generation to graduate from the prestigious London School of Economics.
