The future of PR lies in embracing a more consultative and strategic approach. Practitioners need to develop capabilities that align with these evolving expectations. I foresee a time when PR professionals will be as recognised and respected as advertising industry icons like Sam Balsara or Piyush Pandey, becoming trusted advisors to senior leadership.

Moreover, PR will become increasingly multi-model, extending beyond traditional media relations. It will encompass various platforms, leveraging the ability to craft compelling narratives and deliver credible communications across multiple channels. PR will also need to address multiple stakeholders—not just through the media but by directly engaging with employees, investors, regulators, civil society, and consumers.

In this evolving landscape, the onus is on us as PR professionals to rise to the challenge. By thinking and operating like consultants, we can redefine the role of PR and ensure it remains a vital and respected strategic function in the years to come.
